Thursday evening arrived relatively bright and shiny, unlike me, who arrived dull and knackered after tramping the by ways of Surrey all day, so sat in the car waiting for the keen and eager amongst you to arrive. Quietly relaxing in the luxury of a 10 year old Skoda when someone asks, ‘Are you for the golf club or the cycling?’ A moments pause, can I say golf in
the hope no one else rocks up and I can beetle off home early, but no I couldn’t so I admit to being there for the cycling, and the time trial is on, just need some more riders and marshals.
Big Wayne Bailey rolls around the corner in his shiny non-white builders van, Sam C rides in, with Simon L and Mark P completing the roll call of marshalls.
At the same time various cars and riders appear, including a smattering of new faces, some old ones too and we end up with 13 riders, but two became one as Paul B and Tatyana (hope I spelled the right) decided to ride as a pair.
With marshalls in place, Mr Lang and I wondered down to the start, which gets further away each time, and attempted to synchronise watches, which ended up a little like the Holy Handgrenade of Antioch, but we were close enough not to fret too much, sorry Chris, so that was it, we and the riders were ready, so off they went to test themselves against the mighty Horne 10 mile TT circuit, whilst Simon and I discussed things best not mentioned.
Despite some first timers out there, they all made it back safely and all under 30 minutes so a cracking evening racing.
