Well here goes, after a gentle nudge from Mr Robinson, some inane ramblings from me about Thursday’s as near to 10 as we could make it Horne TT!!
So the evening started with a relaxing coffee and then the trip to Horne, which was more challenging than it should’ve been with SCC Highways closing the road, but after a minor detour i arrived. On the drive over my thoughts turned to wondering how close to 10 we could get the course, by using our course start line and the short
course as the finish line, a quick trip round in the trusty Skoda suggested three loops should be nearly 10 miles, how foolish was I to trust the mileometer!!
As I drove around following a riding
Bailey, it was great to see that he’d arrived early and put out all the signs, before doing his own casual time trial, cheers Wayne.
I forget to mention a hangover of last weeks diesel spill was we had to run on a shortened course, three bottom loops, no top loops.
Anyway after a brief conflab with Messrs Lang, Penfold and Bailey, it was agreed we’d run the combo course (hope that’s ok Mr Woods?)
We had riders signed some stalwarts and some returning riders, which was nice to see. The field consisted of Neil, Dan, Michael, Rupert, Julie, Nigel, Laura, Bryn (or is Brin), Sam and John.
After almost rerunning The Holy Handgrenade of Antioch sketch, we eventually got watches synchronised and we were ready, whether the riders were was another issue, but off they went, although Nigel did almost miss his start time, too busy warming up.
Apologies to Neil I missed taking a snap of you at the start.
After the start it was the long walk back to the finish line and realising we’d forgotten that with three laps, we needed to not only keep a tab on the timings, but also how many laps they’d done.
Now for the piece Mr Robinson has been waiting for, the results
1) Brin Taylor 22:01
2) Victor Langridge 23:20
3) Michael Mackie 23:25
4) Neil Berridge 23:39
5) Rupert Robinson 23:53
6) Julie Briggs 24:02
7) Dan Kennedy 24:13
Sam Bird 25:44 (can’t work out how to not have an emoji)
9) John Osborne 26:03
10) Laura Wilkey (will she ever be known as Laura Swatton?) 28:03
Post race chat was three laps of the bottom loop was a great course and everyone had a great time.
Next weeks race is likely to be another almost 10 miler, depending on the surfacing of the top loop and it’s also our brilliant ladies only TT, which is a great event for everyone, whether you’re riding or supporting come along and have a great evening.
